Steering Group Meeting December 2017
Project leaders Karen Chung and Gareth Morris welcomed everyone to the first steering group meeting. The introduction outlined the aims of the feasibility study, which runs until October 2018. The project seeks to create smaller, greener and more ‘human’ spaces in the context of the large developments in the Elephant. Many residents are concerned about the effect of the Regeneration – loss of sunlight, wind corridors etc. Castle Place project will be phased: Phase 1 will focus on Fives Court, which could be a template to test how the project might work, and help reassure neighbours and the council. Phase 2 would expand the Fives Court test, as well as being part of the proposed green walking network ‘Walk Elephant’, which could link the allotments, Lamlash Garden and the Castle Place site. A survey of both sites has been commissioned, and garage usage mapped. The Steering Group appointed its Chair (Mark Dunhill, resident); Vice Chair (Cass Breen, allotment holder); Treasurer (Dada Nwafor); no Secretary. Terms of Reference were discussed, to be approved at the next meeting.
