Steering Group Meeting February 2018
This meeting took place at City & Guilds Art School – thanks to Tamiko for arranging it! Karen and Gareth gave a short presentation about the website and also the heritage project, comprising a book, research, photographs and features, in collaboration with students from the LCC, which is ongoing and will be rolled out at public events and online over the summer, before going to print at the end of the summer. The group decided that future meetings would ‘roam’ to different community venues within the neighbourhood, to see how other facilities operate and see the types of spaces and environments that might be created. It was also suggested that future meetings involve other local guests and community stakeholders to contribute to discussions, including potential users and tenants. Karen and Gareth also reported on their meeting with Dan Taylor (LB Southwark), when it was agreed that a range of greening projects could be prioritised and initiated during the feasibility study including: extending Lamlash Garden Allotments into Hayles Street yard, greening the entrance to the yard to deter future fly-tipping and begin improvements to Fives Court. Public consultation events planned over the summer include London Festival of Architecture (LFA), June; London National Park Week, and Open House, Southwark, September.
